  • I’m one of the most influential photographer of this decade. PDN survey.
To my big surprise I am on the list of the most influential photographers of this decade. PDN magazine, the biggest photo magazine in the world and host of the PDN Photo Expo in new york every year, has asked the photographic community to list the most influential photographers of this decade. I feel terribly humble [...] […]
  • Great Christmas Presents for Photography loving Guys
Great Christmas Presents for Photography loving Guys Since I am a photography loving guy myself, this is partly my own wish list. I will classify myself as a relatively skeptical and critical person. This list is for the slightly geeky type that enjoys nostalgic retro stuff and photography gadgets. This post I presume is for the [...] […]
  • My top list of best blogs 2009 and some blog info
Ahead of the rest... A summary of the top early birds blogs Give yourself the upper hand, twitter these helpful blogs before anyone else I often find that the best blogs are discovered through lists and word of mouth. It never ceases to surprise me how difficult it can be to find new and interesting blogs, simply by [...] […]
  • LensBaby – More than just for fun
Lensbaby images sell!… If you can get them online. That’s the tricky part. I simply love shooting with my lensbaby and actually have four of them. One for Nikon and three for my Canon. Different kinds and different effects. The lensbaby does something smart: It makes the images look VERY intentionally blurred which is the criteria for [...] […]

Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash

Well I broke down and bought the Nikon Speedlight SB-600 AF Flash Light – i-TTL, TTL, D-TTL, Manual – 65.6ft Range, but I bought it from Buy.com instead.

Nikon Speedlight SB-600 AF Flash Light - i-TTL, TTL, D-TTL, Manual - 65.6ft Range

My wife has been wanting an MP3 player and I saw Sandisk Sansa c250 2GB MP3 Player, On the fly FM and voice recording, MicroSD slot -Recertified on Buy.com. An MP3 player for $17 I didn’t think I could pass it up.  It is refurbished, but I tend to trust the brand name SanDisk.

Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash

I’m really thinking about adding a Nikon SB-600 Speedlight to my Nikon D80 setup. I’ve got two nice lenses in my Nikon 18-200mm and Nikon 50mm f/1.8.  Currently my weakest area is lighting.  I think the speedlight will be my best overall option in lighting to start with, but would like to add some studio type lighting for when I try to take some portraits.

I’d love to find somewhere local to pick one up to use for the rest of our Christmas gatherings but the the best price I can find locally is $219.  If I can find one for $200 I’ll probably do it, otherwise it looks like the link below to Amazon is about the best price I can get, although it may take a week or so to get the price savings are worth it.

I’ll probably be making the decision in the next day or two.

Microstock Earnings November 2008

Well it looks like around $10/month seems to be right about where I’m stuck on my microstock earnings.  Last month I was disappointed with my earnings but this month I’m figuring that unless I step up my dedication and picture taking that’s about where I’m at.  In November I got a total of 3 pictures added to Shutterstock and that’s all the new content I got added.

I didn’t even get any other posts made here, although I do have a couple more that I want to make.

Microstock Earnings October 2008

OUCH!  Last month I thought I did okay while not getting much work done on adding photos.  Well this month I’ve done more to get pictures uploaded, but did quite a bit worse.

I think the next thing I need to work on is actually doing a shoot specifically for stock.  Right now I’m taking opportune shots but not doing the work to do a shoot that ‘tells a story’ or is specific ‘concept’.  Today I think I got some good fall decoration shots, but it’s really too late in the year for them to be of much value this year.  Should I wait until next summer to upload them?

I did hit one of my goals of getting 100 images in my ShutterStock portfolio.  I was hoping to get it done on IStockphoto as well but they’ve been so slow at reviewing I haven’t made it.  And it has seemed that most of my images have been getting rejected anyway by IS.
